Bas Mitzvah Sessions and why they’re actually fun!
A Bas Mitzvah session isn't something everyone expects to do but I’ve been doing more of these lately, and I wanted to share why they’ve become a favorite kind of session to capture.
When we think about our sons' Bar Mitzvahs, we’re all used to the standard photo routine. It’s expected, it’s scheduled, and it’s very... official. But when it comes to a Bas Mitzvah? There aren't really any rules—and honestly, that’s the best part! Because there’s no "official" protocol to follow, the whole session becomes way more relaxed and creative. It’s a totally different vibe— focused entirely on capturing your daughter in a high-end, relaxed portrait session before the celebration begins.
Zero Stress, Maximum Ease
The concept is simple and stress-free. About one hour before the guests are scheduled to show up and the party officially kicks off, I arrive at your home (or other venue where it's set to take place). There’s no driving to a studio and no logistical stress. Your daughter already has her hair done and is wearing her pretty dress—she’s ready to go! Because we’re right there in your own home the the whole mood is super easygoing. These sessions are usually short and sweet—under 30 minutes. I find that 12-year-old girls are typically so excited for the session and have such a natural confidence when it comes to posing, so we get those beautiful shots in no time at all. It’s quick, easy, and fits perfectly into the flow of the day.
Real Girls, Real Confidence
One of my favorite things about these sessions is seeing the girls light up. There is something so special about giving a 12-year-old girl her own moment in the spotlight right before her big milestone. Seeing how great she looks through the camera lens gives her such a boost of confidence. By the time the party actually starts, she’s already feeling like the best version of herself. I’ve gotten so much feedback from both the moms and the Bas Mitzvah girls themselves about how incredible this part of the day made them feel.

By the time the first guest arrives, we’re already done and everyone can just relax and enjoy the celebration.
